White nights in the summer
The Icelandic landscape differs from season to season. During the summer period (June to September), the weather is at its best and the day lasts nearly 24 hours. By flying here in the middle of summer, you are bound to experience the ‘white nights’. This is the time when the sun only hides behind the horizon for a few short hours. Sightseeing on the island is at its most comfortable phase when this happens, as the day here is exceptionally long. You may also experience spectacular sunsets that can last for hours, an unique phenomenon that is only possible in the far north.
Northern lights in late autumn and winter
Winter in Iceland can be quite a struggle, but it is also the best time to catch the aurora borealis. During the autumn/winter season, air tickets are also the cheapest. By getting in the car and driving to the Icelandic remote area, you will be able to look for the aurora in the sky, which can put on a genuine, spectacular show. Let us share with you the locations of little-known natural hot springs, where the water is 30-40 degrees all year round, and you shall soon be able to understand why this is the best place to warm up on winter days and evenings, and why admiring the aurora as you soak in a hot spring is second to none.
The temperature feels different here
One should also be aware that the temperature feels a bit different on our island. A 15 degree day in Poland and a 15 degree day in Iceland are completely different experiences, as you will see for yourself. On the other hand, even a slight frost in winter, combined with a strong wind, can cut through the thickest down jackets. It may sounds a bit challenging but both are worth the effort to find out first-hand.
