1. Independence and absolute freedom
It is up to you to decide where you park your car for the night, and how long you stay there. The sense of freedom while exploring Iceland is something invaluable. If you decide to spend the night at a campsite, most of them are equipped with hot showers, high-speed internet, electricity and everything essential for travellers.
2. Saving of money
Anyone who has been to Iceland knows how ludicrous restaurant prices can be. The equivalent of 20 USD for a pizza, or 13 USD for a simple sandwich or soup, is hardly uncommon here. Iceland is a beautiful country, but it is also horrendously expensive. In addition, the hotel facilities on the island are not the best and prices can be staggering. By travelling in a camper van, you can help yourself to avoid these expenses. We will supply you with a cooker and a set of pots and pans so that you can prepare whatever you fancy. Shopping for basic products at the supermarket (e.g. Bonus or Kronan) is considerably cheaper than going out to eat – you will see for yourself.
3. Memorable mornings
You wake up in the morning, open the door, step outside and have a unique Icelandic landscape in front of you, away from the crowds and street hustle and bustle. Many of the places where you will be staying overnight have a picturesque, postcard-perfect landscape that you will have a chance to experience right from the dawn which brings you to kind of mornings that stay in your memory for a lifetime.
4. Flexibility
You decide how long your trip around the island will be and in which locations you wish to stay for longer. As the island is not large, and geological and natural attractions are plentiful, it is guaranteed that wherever you are, you are very close to find another Icelandic natural wonder.
5. Entertainment and adventure
Iceland has already taken excellent care of its roads. You can drive all the way around the country on Route 1. It is absolutely impossible to get lost. We will provide you with an efficient and safe vehicle and all the necessary amenities. The rest is in your hands. Enjoy the adventure! Of course, if you wish to do so, we can help you plan your trip around the island, depending on how many days you intend to stay with us. One thing is certain – you will not be bored here. Yolo!
6. Breakfast under the sun
A very first meal in the best restaurant won’t taste better than one made and ate in the fresh air, and being on our island you will see how clean the air can be. These are the best possible circumstances to make your own perfect breakfast and enjoy the taste of fresh coffee or tea. You should also try Icelandic tap water. It tastes better than in any other place in the world – anyone who has visited the country can confirm this.
7. Quiet and calm
The thin walls of hotel rooms, noisy neighbours or music from the next door can spoil every holiday. If you decide to travel in a van, these won’t be your problems, as you decide how far you want to park your vehicle from other people. And you don’t have to worry about the morning noise of birds, flies or mosquitoes, as these simply don’t exist on our island.
8. 24-hour proximity to nature
Travelling in a camper van, you will experience a truly idyllic atmosphere. You will discover what Icelandic tranquillity means and how it does wonders for bodies and minds overburdened by the hustle and bustle of the city. You will start your trip in Keflavik or Reykjavik, and these will probably be the only major cities on your route. You are about to see how beneficial a few days of connection with Icelandic nature can truly be.
